Calling all cooks for ‘The Great A taste of Matarangi Cook Off’ Next year’s A Taste of Matarangi will give you the chance to show off your cooking skills with the new festival format Cook Off competition.

Previously showcasing the expertise of local chefs, The Great ATOM Cook Off 2018 will give three local home cooks the opportunity to demonstrate their culinary skills. One of the highlights of the festival which starts at 11am is the return of the Te Rerenga School competition where three teams will compete by creating their own dish. This will be followed by something for all the fish catchers, fish cooks and fish lovers – a Fish Demonstration including how to shuck mussels, fillet fish and prepare and care for your catch. Contestants will cook one or two of their favourite dishes using food items, including seafood, provided by the festival committee. Recipes would take less than 45 minutes to prepare, cook and plate up and be a simple seafood dish you could cook at the beach to impress guests. Contestants have to be available on the festival day, April 7 and be 18 years or over.
